Mavi Sustainability Actions

Published sustainability reports

Mavi says it published its first sustainability report and later added more reports to its sustainability site. These reports explain its strategy, goals, and progress on topics like climate, water, materials, and social issues. The company also keeps a sustainability journey page that lists milestones by year, which helps readers see how its work has changed over time.

Reported carbon footprint data

Mavi says it was the first Turkish apparel brand to disclose its carbon footprint openly through the CDP Climate Change Program. CDP (a global platform for environmental disclosure) gave it a B score, and Mavi also says it received an A- in CDP’s Supplier Engagement Rating, which looks at how well a company works with suppliers on climate action.

Used lower-impact materials

Mavi says it has used recycled materials, organic cotton, Better Cotton, and upcycled materials in its All Blue line and other collections. It also says it introduced jeans made from recycled plastic bottles and worked with partners such as TENCELâ„¢ to expand the use of lower-impact fibers. These steps point to a shift away from only using conventional denim inputs.

Set up energy and water steps

Mavi says it switched some operations to renewable energy, installed a remote energy management system in its stores, and started life cycle assessment work on denim styles. A life cycle assessment, or LCA, measures the environmental impact of a product from raw materials to disposal. The company also says some suppliers improved water and energy use.

Published governance policies

Mavi says it published policies on board diversity, human rights, diversity and inclusion, biodiversity, energy, forests and paper products, and animal welfare. It also says it signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles, joined the 30% Club, and signed the CEO Water Mandate. These are governance and social steps meant to shape how the business is run, not just what it sells.

Gained third-party certifications

Mavi says its Turkey head office earned ISO 14001 certification, which is an international standard for managing environmental impact. It also says it obtained OCS (Organic Content Standard) and RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certifications, and that some cotton and animal-derived materials are certified through other schemes. These labels are meant to verify material claims in the supply chain.
