Specsavers Sustainability Commitments

2026

Halve scope 1 and 2 emissions

Specsavers has pledged to cut scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2026, using 2020 as the base year. Scope 1 means direct emissions from things the company owns or controls, and scope 2 means emissions from purchased energy like electricity. The company says this target was approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative, a group that checks whether climate targets match climate science.

2030

Cut scope 3 emissions

Specsavers has also pledged to halve scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, again using 2020 as the base year. Scope 3 covers indirect emissions across the value chain, such as suppliers, transport, and product use. This is usually the hardest part of a company’s footprint to reduce, so the target suggests the brand is looking beyond its own buildings and energy use.
