REEF Sustainability Actions

Good On You rates REEF poorly

Good On You, a fashion sustainability rating site, gives REEF an overall score of "We Avoid" and last updated the profile in April 2024. It rates the brand very poorly on both planet and people issues. The site says REEF uses few lower-impact materials, gives no public evidence of action on biodiversity or supply-chain emissions, and does not show clear steps to cut textile waste. On workers’ rights, Good On You says the brand does not publicly share its code of conduct and does not show enough proof that workers are paid living wages.

ecoBiz steps at Reef Ecologic

A separate company with the Reef name, Reef Ecologic, says it joined the ecoBiz program in 2019 and made changes such as timed lighting, composting, grey water use, and a "repair not replace" approach. It also says it installed solar panels and a Tesla battery and now runs its home office on renewable electricity. The same source says the business tracks energy, water, and waste data through ecoBiz, which is a Queensland Government-backed program that helps small businesses measure and reduce resource use.

Coral conservation support

An ESG blog from Omno says it has supported Living Sea Conservation since 2022 by giving a portion of sales to coral reef restoration in Padangbai, East Bali. The blog says the group uses Handprint Technology, a platform for tracking environmental and social impact, and that the conservation partner has already planted reef structures and coral fragments. This is not a REEF brand action, but it is a sustainability-related Reef-named source in the material and shows how reef restoration is being funded through product sales in another business context.
