Polo Ralph Lauren Sustainability Actions

Published 2025 sustainability report

Ralph Lauren published its 2025 Global Citizenship & Sustainability Report and said it had made progress on its Timeless by Design strategy. The company reported that 98% of units produced met at least one sustainable material criterion, and it introduced its fifth Cradle to Cradle Certified® product. Cradle to Cradle is a product standard that looks at safer materials and better design for reuse or recycling. The company also said it launched denim recycling in North America, piloted repair services, and expanded its vintage offering.

Cut emissions from 2020 baseline

The company said it reduced absolute emissions by 34% from its FY20 baseline in its 2025 report. It also said it would keep using a science-based method aligned with the Paris Agreement, which is a global climate agreement aimed at limiting warming. Ralph Lauren said it will move away from a single 2040 net-zero target and instead use rolling five-year greenhouse gas reduction milestones. Greenhouse gases are the heat-trapping gases linked to climate change.

Expanded circular product work

Ralph Lauren said it has been adding more circularity work, which means designing products and systems so materials can be used again instead of thrown away. In 2024, it launched a denim recycling program in North America, piloted a repair service, and expanded its Ralph Lauren Vintage offer. The Commons Earth also noted limited take-back programs for cashmere and denim, but said these are only available for some products and do not cover most of the brand’s range.

Used certified materials

The company reported using more certified and lower-impact materials across its products. Its 2024 report highlighted a Cradle to Cradle Certified® Denim Flag Trucker Jacket, a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified 100% recycled cotton polo, and its first Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified sweaters. These labels are third-party standards that check how materials are sourced and handled. The Commons Earth also said the brand uses materials certified by RWS, RDS, SFA and LWG, and that many products use recycled, organic or BCI cotton.

Published reporting and policies

Ralph Lauren says it publishes annual citizenship and sustainability reports and supplements. Its reports and policies page says the 2025 report was prepared in partial alignment with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and that the supplement includes disclosures linked to GRI, SASB and TCFD. These are reporting frameworks used to structure environmental and social data. The company also lists policies on animal welfare, human rights, responsible purchasing, supplier engagement, factory disclosure, and sustainable chemical management.

Supported cancer care and prevention

Ralph Lauren said its Pink Pony initiative and related foundation work support cancer care and prevention. In 2024 and 2025, it highlighted the opening of cancer prevention centers in the United States, including the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles. The company describes this as part of its community work, alongside philanthropy and volunteering. This is a social impact action rather than an environmental one.
