2030

Cut emissions through Renewables Acceleration

Mars said its Renewables Acceleration program could reduce emissions by around 3 million tonnes by 2030, which it described as roughly 10% of its 2025 footprint. The program is meant to extend renewable electricity beyond Mars’s own sites and into its wider value chain, including suppliers. This is a future target, not a finished result.

2030

Invest in climate-smart rice sourcing

Mars said it will invest $20 million between 2020 and 2030 in its Raising Rice Right program. The money is meant to scale climate-smart farming in rice, support farmer training, and build resilience in the supply chain. The target year makes this a forward-looking commitment.

2040

Run direct operations on renewable energy

Mars said it is working toward running all of its direct operations on renewable energy by 2040. Direct operations means the sites and activities it controls itself. The company said it was already sourcing 58% renewable electricity in support of this goal, but the full target is still ahead.

2050

Reach net zero emissions

Mars said it has a 2050 net zero emissions commitment. Net zero means cutting emissions as much as possible and balancing any remaining pollution with removals. The company said this goal sits inside its Sustainable in a Generation Plan and is supported by energy, farming, and supply chain changes.
