2025

100% renewable electricity by 2025

LinkedIn says it plans to procure 100% renewable electricity by 2025. This means it wants all of the electricity it buys to come from renewable sources such as wind or solar, rather than fossil fuels.

2030

Cut emissions and go carbon negative

LinkedIn says that by 2030 it will reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions to near zero and cut Scope 3 emissions by more than 50% from a 2020 baseline. Scope 1 and 2 are direct emissions from its own operations and purchased electricity, while Scope 3 covers other emissions in its value chain. It also says it will become carbon negative by removing more carbon than it emits.

2030

Zero-waste campuses by 2030

LinkedIn says all of its campuses will divert at least 90% of waste from landfill or incineration by 2030, and that construction and demolition projects will divert at least 75% of waste. It says it will do this by improving recycling, composting, reuse, and food service systems.

2030

Water positive by 2030

LinkedIn says it will decrease water intensity and replenish more water than it consumes by 2030. Water intensity means how much water it uses for a given amount of work or output.

2050

Remove historic emissions by 2050

LinkedIn says it will remove all of its historic emissions produced since its founding in 2003 by 2050. Historic emissions are the greenhouse gases it has released over its lifetime, not just current annual emissions.
