Rolled out RFID tracking

KOOKAÏ introduced RFID tags in its manufacturing and retail network to improve item-level tracking. The system helped cut stock counts from a few days to about 30 minutes for 30,000 items at one factory. It also gave the brand better visibility over inventory, stock levels, and supply chain movement. The company said it wanted to reduce manual counting and improve traceability, which means following products and materials more closely as they move through the supply chain.

Controls most production in-house

Public material says KOOKAÏ makes around 85% of its collection in its own factories in Fiji and Sri Lanka. That kind of vertical integration means the brand controls more of the product journey itself, from design and raw material sourcing to manufacturing. In sustainability terms, this can make it easier to track where products come from and to manage quality and supply chain issues, although it does not by itself prove strong environmental or labour performance.

Supports ESG education work

KOOKAÏ is linked to ESG education and climate-business work through Kookai Chaimahawong’s leadership roles at UBC Sauder and the Centre for Climate and Business Solutions. The centre focuses on helping businesses understand carbon footprints, climate risk, and regenerative business models. This is not a direct brand sustainability report, but it does show involvement in wider ESG knowledge-sharing and climate strategy work.
