Founded in Morioka in 2018

Compapny Name HERALBONY Co., Ltd. Establishment 24, July 2018. The company was founded by Takaya Matsuda and Fumito Matsuda, inspired by their older brother Shota, who has a severe intellectual disability and is on the autism spectrum.

Licensing art for royalties

At HERALBONY, we're helping artists with disabilities to benefit from their artwork by our partnering with businesses that will incorporate the art into their products and brands. Our model is simple: we leverage our art collection as intellectual property, allowing companies and brands to feature the works in their products. We then give the royalties that we receive from these collaborations directly to the artists.

Opened HERALBONY EUROPE

In 2024 she was appointed CEO of HERALBONY EUROPE. In July 2024, they established HERALBONY EUROPE in Paris—our first overseas subsidiary—to further expand our vision on a global scale.

Won LVMH award in 2024

The venture became the first Japanese company to win in the category of Employee Experience, Diversity & Inclusion at the LVMH Innovation Award 2024.

Worked with JAL since 2021

Since December 2021, JAL and Heralbony have been collaborating on various initiatives. They held the “Upcycled Art Exhibition” at Haneda Airport, and organized an art wrapping event at Misawa Airport in Aomori Prefecture in January 2022. Furthermore, since August 2023, 12 different art pieces by various artists have been featured on the sleeves of international economy class meals.

Collaborated with Kodansha

As part of Kodansha’s initiatives to protect and spread free and diverse values, we collaborated with HERALBONY Co., Ltd., developing a licensing business that manages art data copyrights for artists with intellectual disabilities.

Supported fashion production

Kyocera Document Solutions Inc. supported the production of dresses using artworks painted by artists contracted to HERALBONY for ANREALAGE’s Collection at Paris Fashion Week SS 2026, held on September 30, 2025. The collection comprised 30 outfits, 26 of which used fabrics printed with our sustainable inkjet textile printer "FOREARTH".
