Cheeky Babe Sustainability Actions

Reusable products to cut waste

Cheeky Pants says its main sustainability approach is to replace disposable items with reusable ones. Its cloth nappies, cloth wipes, period pants, and cloth period pads are presented as alternatives to single-use products that create landfill waste. The idea is simple: if customers switch to reusable products, they should throw away less over time. This is a direct waste-reduction strategy, since the products are meant to be used again and again instead of being binned after one use.

Lower-packaging changes

Cheeky Pants says it has changed how it packs and ships products to reduce waste. It uses sturdy paper mailers for smaller items, cardboard boxes for larger items, and bulk shipping for some products so there is less individual packaging. The company also says it stopped using biodegradable plastic mailers after learning they only broke down in home composting, not in landfill. That shows an effort to avoid packaging claims that do not match real-world disposal conditions.

Energy-saving warehouse steps

Cheeky Pants says it has taken steps to reduce energy use in its warehouse. It uses low-energy LED lighting and placed its pick-and-pack area to make better use of natural light and solar gain, which can lower heating needs. The company also says staff are encouraged to walk or cycle to work, with cycle parking provided. It adds that a partner factory in Pakistan uses a solar energy bank to generate electricity for the factory.

Reuse and recycling of materials

Cheeky Pants says it tries to reuse packaging wherever possible and recycle products at the end of their life. Staff are encouraged to bring in packaging that can be used again, and the company says it gives away large boxes it does not need. It also says its textile products can be sent to textile recycling when they are worn out, and its soaking boxes can be recycled as polypropylene, which is a type of plastic marked as recycling group 5.

Donating returned items

Cheeky Pants says it does not want usable returned stock to go to waste. If returned items are clean but cannot be resold, the company says it forwards them to women’s refuge charities or other charities it supports. This is a form of reuse and donation that keeps products in use for longer and may help people who need them.
