Cut direct emissions
Toyota says it has a validated target to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 68% by 2035 from a 2019 base year. Scope 1 means direct emissions from its own operations, and Scope 2 means emissions from purchased electricity and similar energy. Toyota says it has a 2030 target for Scope 3 Category 11 emissions intensity from passenger light-duty and light commercial vehicles.
