Research on environmental economics

Xiao Wang's research focuses on environmental economics and health economics. She studies questions related to environmental regulations, firm behavior, and health impact of pollution. Her current projects analyze pollution exposure inequity, location choice of firms in respose to environmental regulations and public pressure, and effects of pollution on children's health.

Research on recycling and waste

Her published work includes "Visual prompts or volunteer models: An experiment in recycling," "Distance is a barrier to recycling–or is it? Surprises from a clean test," and "From pioneer to promotion: How can residential waste diversion non-profit organizations (NPOs) best co-evolve in modern China?"

Energy efficiency policy work

At the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, Xiao Wang served as Programme Officer of the Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform, where she took the lead in identifying and developing decision-support tools in the ecosystem of energy efficiency and energy productivity, while supporting global public-private collaborations for achieving Sustainable Energy for All.
