Wehlers Sustainability Actions

Introduced Product Pass

The Wehlers Product Pass is a comprehensive document that accompanies each piece of furniture we produce. With your mobile devise it offers transparent information about the materials, manufacturing processes, and environmental impact associated with the product. The Company or the private user of the R.U.M.- Chairs are displayed and the transfer of ownership is possible after use. Product Environmental Footprint is shown for every piece og furniture supporting the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.

Uses recycled waste streams

The R.U.M. chair has a climate impact of 15.2 Co2e per chair. This is lower than all other chairs known to Wehlers. This figure is verified through a rigorous Product Enviromental Footprint (PEF). The chair uses recycled plastics sourced from various industries, including discarded packaging and plastic components from the pharmaceutical sector, discarded electronics like computers and appliances, and abandoned "ghost nets".

Runs a take-back model

Wehlers.com drives a business model that ensures the take back of chairs no longer in use. FULL circular economy. After use the chair will be recycled to prevent waste. Post Consumer waste from Returpen.dk are used for the manufacturing of the R.U.M.- Chair and collected back after use.

Collaborated with Novo Nordisk

Wehlers was elected to collaborate with Novo Nordisk as part of their ambitious "Circular4Zero" program. This strategic partnership specifically addresses the challenge of closing the loop on a critical and difficult-to-recycle stream: post-consumer medical plastic waste. Through a newly established structured collection network across Scandinavian pharmacies and rigorous cleaning, Wehlers ensures this valuable material avoids harmful incineration or permanent landfill.

Restored furniture in projects

ITAB Baltic played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life by applying reuse as a core design principle - restoring and reintegrating existing client-owned furniture. They introduced sustainable materials whilst coordinating production, delivery and installation, and collaborating with local artists to create a harmonious cultural identity and brand experience in the space.
