Sustainability at Autosalon.be

During the last Autosalon.be, our commitment to sustainability, diversity and inclusion was also present in every step of our major event of the year. In environmental terms, attention was given to the choice of suppliers and the way the different devices were installed. 5,500 m² of canvas were placed on the stands, and 7 canvases will be recycled to make pool bags. There were no plastic bags on the stands and everything was digitised.

Reused and recycled materials

The stands reused many components from the 2023 salon, including the Volkswagen, Microlino and Lucien stands. Some bags were made from recycled plastic and reconditioned in Belgium by local artisans. A number of furniture items were also reused for the future D'Ieteren house.

Lower-impact event operations

Very few suppliers were chosen to minimise transport emissions. For catering and food, suppliers were asked to work on local products and seasonal products when possible. Water consumption was reduced by using water fountains instead of plastic cups. Low-consumption components were used, including 200 letters that replaced older incandescent lighting spots.

Green electricity with Veolia

With Veolia, green electricity was preferred in the palaces.

Accessibility and inclusion

The social side was also important, and efforts were made to welcome all customers, whether less mobile, young or older people. A great effort in diversity and inclusion was included in the specifications for choosing young and older hosts, corresponding to the population and fitting into an inclusive approach.

CSRD sustainability report

Michelin has just published its first Sustainability Report aligned with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The report covers the entire value chain, assesses ESG risks and opportunities, and applies double materiality: financial relevance and impact on people and the planet.
