Tailoring programme with AAWC

Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) said it had taken a collaborative step forward with Tiny Miracles through a tailoring program. AAWC said vocational training is the gateway to economic independence and a dignified life for its women. Since 1998, AAWC has served more than 4,000 women.

It referred to access to education, equal employment opportunities, fair wages, and the ability to make independent financial decisions.

Promotes women in boardrooms

A thought leadership article for Women’s Chamber of Industry & Commerce said that 6.5 Mn women in Sri Lanka are not economically active. It said it is imperative to harness the talent pool by way of flexi work hours, encouraging female entrepreneurship, and quotas for women in boards ensuring financial independence for women.

Mentoring and skills development

The International Women in Resources Mentoring Programme (IWRMP) was described as a six-month structured mentoring initiative that connects professionals across the resources sector, helping develop skills and knowledge while enabling an exchange of perspectives between mentors and mentees.
