What do our labels mean?

The Boatyard Distillery is based on the banks of Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, and presents sustainability as part of its day-to-day operations. In early 2023 it became a certified B Corp, the first Irish distillery to do so, with a B Impact score of 92.1. The distillery says it follows sustainable and environmentally conscious gin making practices where possible, uses organically farmed ingredients where possible, and continually looks for improvements across production, packaging and transport. Its sustainability work includes refill systems, reduced-packaging pouches, and reuse of production by-products.

B Corp certification

At the beginning of 2023 the Boatyard Distillery very proudly became a certified B Corp corporation, and in fact we are the first Irish distillery to achieve such certification. B Corp as an organisation was first set up in 2006, and it is a movement that stands by the principle of, 'Make Business a Force For Good'. Boatyard’s B Impact score is 92.1, to qualify for B Corp 80 is required, and the median score for businesses is 50.9.

Certified organic spirits

Both our Double Gin and Vodka are 100% certified organic. Our juniper and all the botanicals are from organic crops. The wheat in our vodka comes from a local organic farmer in a direct distillery to farmer relationship.

Reuse in production

From sending our stillage to local farmers for cattle feed, to reusing spent botanicals to make chocolate, every area of our production is constantly under review, with the ultimate goal of decarbonisation.

Eco-refill station

The distillery now has an eco-refill station. Anyone can bring any empty 70cl bottle and we will refill it with their favourite Boatyard. This is designed to help reduce single use glass bottles.

Eco-pouches for trade

For bars and restaurants, we also have an alternative to glass bottles, and that is 2.8L Eco-Pouches, again reducing glass usage but also hugely reducing Carbon output in transit.
