tentree Sustainability Commitments
2030
Cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions
tentree says it aims to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030. Scope 1 means direct emissions from things the company controls, like fuel use. Scope 2 means emissions from purchased electricity. Independent sources note that these emissions are a small part of tentree’s total footprint, because most of its emissions come from its supply chain.
2033
Reach net-zero by 2033
tentree says it has a Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated net-zero goal for 2033. SBTi is a group that checks whether climate targets match what science says is needed. The target covers Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, which includes the supply chain. The brand says it wants to cut emissions by 90% from a 2022 baseline year.
2030
Certify all fabric volume
tentree says it wants 100% of its fabric volume to be certified by a third-party safe chemistry standard by 2030. Safe chemistry standards such as bluesign or GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) are meant to limit harmful chemicals in textile production. The brand said 34% of its fabric volume met one of these standards in 2023.
2030
Make new materials fully recyclable
tentree says it wants 100% of its new materials to be fiber-to-fiber closed-loop recyclable by 2030. Fiber-to-fiber recycling means old textile fibers are turned back into new textile fibers, instead of becoming lower-grade material or waste. The brand reported that 44% of its materials already met this standard in 2023.
