STUDIO EBN is a Norway-based accessories brand founded in 2013 and rooted in Bodø, just north of the Arctic Circle. Its sustainability approach centres on salmon leather, described as a by-product of the food industry and a material that would otherwise be unused. The studio says it works with suppliers that use sustainable sourcing and production processes, and it aims to create long-lasting, handcrafted bags and accessories with the smallest possible footprint. It also states that it uses linen, recycled leather, recycled cardboard packaging, and is working with organic reindeer skin.

STUDIO EBN Sustainability Actions

Uses salmon leather

Nordic Salmon leather is at the heart of all creations by STUDIO EBN. The studio says it is sourced from the Nordic region and produced by making use of renewable energy. It is a by-product of the food industry that would otherwise not be used.

Works with circular materials

STUDIO EBN pushes and approaches its commitment to sustainability using innovation. By utilizing fish skin from Norwegian fish farming – a valuable material that would otherwise have been thrown away. This way we contribute to a circular economy.

Switched packaging to cardboard

Other sustainable materials the studio focuses on are linen and recycled leather. It has already switched to recycled cardboard for its packaging.

Founded in 2013

STUDIO EBN was founded in 2013 by designer Elisabeth Benonisen and is based in Bodø, Norway just north of the Arctic Circle. The brand evolved from the idea of using material connected to the region, and developing sustainable premium accessories that also tell a story of life in the North.

Won sustainability award

Studio EBN has received the Klarna Growth Awards in the Sustainability category, and received the award in Stockholm the 17th of November. The jury's reasoning described the brand as sustainable fashion with fish leather, using waste products from salmon farming since 2013.
