Installed rainwater harvesting

Steenbergs has finished a project today to install rainwater harvesting at its spice factory. This is part of Steenbergs' commitment to reduce its water usage by 25% by 2025.

Reduced direct carbon impacts

In 2016, Steenbergs began on its plan to reduce its controllable carbon impacts. Here, we discuss how we've reduced the direct impacts by over -90% (before carbon offsets) since then.

Cut water use and waste

2022 has been a tough year for sales and costs. Steenbergs has reduced its environmental impact, by cutting water use and waste and eliminating electricity from fossil fuels. We are carbon neutral and zero waste to landfill.

Purchased carbon offsets

For 2014, Steenbergs has purchased carbon offsets for 72 tonnes of carbon dioxide, up from 17 tonnes in 2013. This has increased, because we are now retiring even more of the greenhouse gases from our business.

Invested in solar and efficiency

We have invested in solar panels, a living roof, electric car, LED lights and a wood in Wales. We have been committed about minimising our impact from the get go in 2003 and have long use plastic free packaging that is both practical and recyclable.

Planted and managed woodland

Sophie and Axel Steenberg have planted 36 crack willow and 4 crabapple trees, and cleared litter in their wood in South Wales.
