Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. Sustainability Actions

Opened a solar farm in Kentucky

In 2023, Stanley Black & Decker unveiled a 4.3 MW solar farm in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The company said the site is fully powered by renewable energy and can supply its nearby production facility, with extra electricity sent back to the grid. It estimated the project would cut about 5,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year and save around $400,000 in annual energy costs. The project was described as part of the company’s wider ESG work and its move toward carbon neutrality by 2030.

Set an ESG structure around three pillars

The company said its ESG strategy is built around three pillars: people, product, and planet. It also said the strategy includes 2030 commitments linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, which are global goals for issues like climate, work, and responsible production. In the material, Stanley Black & Decker said its products should help improve the environment, support infrastructure, and make cities more sustainable when made with responsible consumption in mind.

Reported cost cuts in supply chain

In its 2025 results, Stanley Black & Decker said gross margin improved partly because of tariff mitigation and supply chain cost reductions. It also said its global cost reduction program had generated about $2.1 billion in pre-tax run-rate savings since mid-2022, reaching its original target. This is not a direct environmental action, but it does show the company has been changing operations and procurement systems that can affect resource use and waste.
