Social housing management

At Banco Sabadell, we reaffirm our commitment to the responsible management of housing, offering solutions for customers in vulnerable situations and working to prevent the loss of their home and social exclusion. This commitment is reflected in responsible guidance, social collaboration and financial education, together with solutions that facilitate access to housing and enhance its sustainability.

Social and affordable rental

Promotion of social and affordable rental, through construction and refurbishment projects carried out in collaboration with public entities and public administrations.

Green mortgages and renovation

Green mortgages, for the purchase or refurbishment of homes with high energy efficiency ratings. Energy-efficient home renovation, supported through financing aimed at improving energy performance.

Support for vulnerable customers

We implement measures to protect customers in vulnerable situations, applying the Code of Good Practices (CBP) and offering solutions such as loan restructuring, debt reduction in specific cases, and, ultimately, a deed in lieu of foreclosure with the right to rent, in accordance with current regulations.

Properties assigned to non-profits

We also have assigned 79 properties to 37 non-profit institutions and/or foundations, supporting groups in vulnerable situations.

Social Housing Fund

Since 2013, we have been part of the Social Housing Fund Agreement (Convenio del Fondo Social de Viviendas, or FSV), a public initiative that provides social rental options to individuals who have lost their primary residence and meet specific income and vulnerability criteria. In January 2025, at the request of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, we renewed our commitment to the Agreement, once again confirming our adherence to the Social Housing Fund.

ESG integration to 2025

During 2021-2025, we integrated ESG principles into our strategy, strengthened our governance arrangements and mobilised solutions to support a more sustainable and inclusive economy.

Decarbonisation targets set

In December 2022, the Bank published its first decarbonisation targets for four emissions-intensive sectors. In December 2023, it set new decarbonisation targets for Iron & Steel, Automotive and Aviation. In 2024, it completed its decarbonisation strategy by setting decarbonisation targets for Residential real estate mortgages, Commercial real estate, Aluminium and Maritime transport.
