RÆBURN is a fashion brand founded by Christopher Raeburn that is closely associated with circular design, material innovation, and sustainability in clothing. The available content highlights the brand’s interest in regenerative agriculture, designing for disassembly, and the use of materials that can be recycled more easily. Christopher Raeburn has also spoken publicly about circularity, collaboration, and the need to rethink how fabrics are sourced and how products are made. The brand’s sustainability position is presented through industry events, commentary, and design practice rather than formal corporate reporting.

RÆBURN Sustainability Actions

Spoke on circular materials

Inspire Circular Event 2: Reimagining Materials for a Circular Future. Tuesday 14th October, 3pm-7pm. The Design Museum, London. The event is ticketed but free, with a capacity of 140. "I'm looking forward to speaking alongside some truly inspiring experts on all things circularity. We’ll take an exploration of where material innovation is thriving, where it’s hitting bottlenecks, and the practical realities of closing material loops and scaling circular systems within huge and complex organisations."

Designed boots for recycling

When he was Timberland’s Global Creative Director, Christopher designed boots that did just this. Once worn to its full potential, the boot can be returned to the brand to fully recycle each element.

Promoted regenerative farming

"What can really push the needle is regenerative agriculture," he says, "Older farming methods often absorb carbon – such as rotational grazing for cattle." The traditional cotton and rubber production can also capture carbon. "Unfortunately, fabric manufacturing over the last 50 60 years has had a destructive impact on the planet. If we can go back to regenerative practices, that has to be good," Christopher adds.

Discussed design for disassembly

As such, Christopher and other designers have been considering how to recycle an item when you first design it.
