POM Amsterdam describes sustainability as a journey and says it is working towards a responsible future. The brand states that it looks out for people, animals and the planet, and that production has an impact on the environment. Its sustainability page focuses on more sustainable materials, more sustainable shipping, fair entrepreneurship, packaging made from recycled or sustainably produced materials, and certified factories. It also sets out year-based goals for increasing the share of more sustainable fabrics, improving transport emissions, and extending the life of its clothing through borrowing and resale initiatives.

POM Amsterdam Sustainability Actions

More sustainable shipping

Since 2024, we’ve been using sustainable biofuels for our sea freight, saving around 15 tonnes of CO₂ a year. Our packaging is also made from recycled materials, and all orders are shipped climate-neutral via DHL GoGreen from our warehouse straight to you.

Certified factories

We’ve been working for years with trusted partners in Europe, India and China, and we try to visit every factory each year. All factories are BSCI or Sedex certified, that means good working conditions and fair production. Our iconic asymmetrical triangle scarves are still made in the Netherlands in the same studio where the very first POM shawl was created.

Packaging and shipping in 2022

All packaging is made from recycled materials or materials produced in a sustainable way. All parcels from our distribution centre to customers are shipped climate-neutral through the DHL GoGreen programme.

Certified facilities in 2023

100% of our collection is produced in certified facilities or made in the Netherlands under supervision of our product team. We joined Stichting UPV Textiel to ensure we meet all legal requirements.

Collections available for borrowing

In 2024, our collections were made available for borrowing through Lena Library in Amsterdam, helping extend the lifespan of our clothing.
