B Corp certification

Phastar became a certified B Corporation® on 11th July 2023 after a 12-month review. The assessment body B Lab Global reviewed Phastar’s impact across governance, workers, environment, community, and customers. Phastar achieved 91.4 points, above the minimum threshold of 80.

Net-zero target approved

On 9th October 2023, Phastar had its net-zero target approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company said it had already strengthened its emissions-measurement processes, developed and launched a sustainability strategy, and was working to reduce its carbon footprint.

Recycling and suppliers

Phastar says its ESG work includes global recycling programs in all locations and prioritizing sustainable suppliers. It also says it has reviewed procedures that require downstream suppliers and facility leaseholders to demonstrate a commitment to environmentally sustainable practices.

Pro bono scheme launched

Phastar launched a pro bono scheme where charities can access its biometrics experts at no cost. Since launch, its experts have supported Great Ormond Street Hospital and Prostate Cancer Research and Education for Health, providing statistics, data science, data management and programming to third sector organizations.

Tree planting initiatives

Phastar started a program supporting tree planting initiatives in Kenya and Scotland, with trees planted for every employee and new starter. It also says it has planted 100 mangrove trees in the Mau Forest National Park, north of Nairobi.
