Hosted ESG and equality summit

Out Leadership and Ropes & Gray present the Return on Equality Summitâ„¢, an invitation-only event for ESG leaders, LGBTQ+ executives, and allies. The summit convened thought leaders and industry experts to explore the intersection of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices with LGBTQ+ equality.

Convened ESG working groups

This year, Out Leadership convened top ESG industry leaders through a series of dinners and working group sessions. Leading up to the summit, Out Leadership and sponsoring companies hosted a series of industry dinners and roundtable discussions, and continued the steering working group conversations.

Developed LGBTQ+ ESG standard

Out Leadership will launch its new global LGBTQ+ inclusive ESG Standard, which will, for the first time, include metrics across the DEI spectrum including global DEI standards, policies and metrics, LGBTQ+ C-Suite representation, LGBTQ+ ERG/BRG leadership and engagement, donations and support for LGBTQ+ and diverse organizations, self-identification programs, inclusive health care and retirement benefits, representation in marketing materials, corporate board diversity initiatives, and public policy on anti-LGBTQ laws.

Advanced board diversity work

A central theme of the summit was the further development and incorporation of Out Leadership's 8 years of Board diversity work through its OutQUORUM initiative to ensure the inclusion of LGBTQ+ representation at the board level on equitable governance, recruitment and retention, and business impact.

Published ESG research

Out Leadership's analysis of 220 UK and US companies examined how LGBTQ+ currently shows up in ESG reports. The summit also discussed existing ESG reporting, existing DEI reporting, self-ID, investor impact, the role of regulators, and the impact of anti-LGBTQ laws at state, federal and country level.
