B Corp certification

NK Corporation became the first company in Japan’s leather industry to receive B Corp certification in 2023. The company says that after three years of management improvement efforts, it was formally certified in July 2023.

100% renewable energy factory

The entire facility is powered by 100% renewable energy, including domestic solar and wind power. The company also states that it is making every effort to minimize energy consumption throughout the company.

Reduced waste in production

The company says it is promoting environmentally and socially conscious management, including reducing the use of molds, minimizing waste from offcuts, and switching to 100% renewable energy. It also describes an environmental business model of “manufacturing offcut 93.8% reduction × machine equipment parts 99% reduction × defect rate below 0.01%.”

Upcycling program launched

NK Corporation has officially positioned the NK Upcycling Program as a business and says it will launch it in earnest. The program welcomes materials that have reached the end of their useful life, such as seat fabrics, interior materials, advertising signs, tarpaulins, exhibits, sample materials, excess inventory, and production offcuts.

Technical guidance in Ethiopia

The company says it participated in an international project in Ethiopia and provided technical guidance on-site. It states that this initiative was implemented at the request of the relevant organizations.

Local sourcing within 30 km

NK corp. expresses gratitude to its local community of suppliers and partners located within only 30 km of its main plant in Tokyo.
