Menorca Sustainability Actions

Destination Zero Waste Menorca

Our Destination Zero Waste Menorca initiative, in partnership with Menorca Preservation, addresses plastic pollution in Menorca by collecting, recycling and upcycling 17,800 kg of plastic waste. The initiative also creates green jobs for marginalised communities, offers educational activities for locals and visitors and encourages hospitality businesses to adopt sustainable practices to reduce plastic waste.

Plastic-free hotel certification

With Menorca Preservation, easyJet holidays is working with 10 of its partner hotels to achieve a plastic-free certification: an initiative to eliminate single-use plastics and promote sustainable alternatives. Certified hotels will receive reusable beach item stations, reducing waste on Menorca’s beaches and improving the health of local ecosystems.

Hotel sustainability measures

The hotel has driven various initiatives reflected in its decalogue. Notably, 134 innovative hybrid solar panels were installed with innovative technology capable of heating their pool while producing most of the electricity for the facilities. Additionally, they have implemented an innovative irrigation system that uses gray water recovered from showers and sinks.

Recycled products from coast plastics

Hotels also actively collaborate with NGOs and local social projects on projects directly impacting communities. A notable initiative of the Menorcan hotel is its alliance with the ecological association «Per la Mar Viva», with which they have developed recycled products, such as the shoe soles of the staff and coasters in restaurants, made from plastics collected on the Menorcan coast.
