KOGA S.A. Sustainability Actions

Short-term parking spaces

Some of the large vehicle parking spaces have been set up as “short-term parking spaces” in 11 locations. These spaces are limited to parking for 60 minutes or less, and the purpose is to ensure that drivers of large vehicles have a more reliable opportunity to take a break.

Parking space expansion

NEXCO EAST, NEXCO CENTRAL, and NEXCO WEST have expanded and changed the layout of parking spaces at rest facilities (SA/PA) since fiscal 2018, and have so far added approximately 3,000 parking spaces (large vehicles). In fiscal 2023, the number of large vehicles was increased by approximately 630 units, and in fiscal 2024 the expansion is planned to be approximately 560 units.

Kamikawachi SA trial

A demonstration experiment of “short-term parking spaces” started on November 28, 2020 at Kamikawachi Service Area (In-bound) on the E4 Tohoku Expressway. Five large vehicle parking spaces were made available for parking for up to 60 minutes, with information signs and road markings installed in the parking lot.

Adatara and Kunimi trial

A demonstration experiment of “short-term parking spaces” began on March 1, 2024 at Adatara SA (Out-bound) and Kunimi SA (Out-bound) on the E4 Tohoku Expressway. Five spaces at each location were designated for parking for 60 minutes or less, with the experiment intended to verify changes in rest opportunities, congestion at surrounding rest facilities, and effective installation locations.

KOGA S.A. Sustainability Commitments

2025

Expand trial locations

In addition to Kamikawachi SA (In-bound), three other locations, Hasuda SA (In-bound), Kunimi SA (Out-bound), and Adatara SA (Out-bound), will also be operational by the end of 2025. We plan to start operation gradually.

2024

Add large vehicle spaces

In fiscal 2024, parking spaces for large vehicles are planned to be expanded by approximately 560 at 34 SA/PA locations nationwide.
