Safety in the workplace begins with awareness. Every workplace contains potential hazards that can cause injury, illness, or damage if not properly identified and controlled. Understanding and recognizing these hazards is the first step toward prevention. When hazards are identified early, effective control measures can be applied to reduce risks and protect workers.

Compliance and safety culture

Being compliant does not guarantee safety. Many companies mistake ticking boxes for protecting people. Compliance is the law. Safety is a culture. Audits only capture what is on the surface; real safety lives in the day-to-day actions, decisions, and culture.

OSHA recordkeeping system

An incident that isn’t properly documented can become a serious compliance problem later. Under OSHA 29 CFR Part 1904, employers are legally required to maintain accurate records of workplace injuries and illnesses. The OSHA 300 Log Book was created to help document OSHA recordable incidents, injury and illness case details, lost workdays, restricted duty tracking, annual OSHA 300A summaries, 5-year record retention requirements, and audit-ready incident documentation.

Hazard reporting and audits

Pivotal Safety Stats showed 88 safety reports submitted by employees and auditors, 12 on-site audit incidents reported, 57% of all reports were hazards identified, and 11 recorded non-LTI accidents. The motto was: SEE IT, SAY IT, SORT IT.
