Repair Atelier pilot project

On 12 June 2024, Karl Lagerfeld launched a pilot project with Bleckmann and The Renewal Workshop. The Repair Atelier programme aims to reduce garment waste by creating a circular solution for damaged pre-consumer clothing. The Almelo team assessed 100 B- and C-grade pre-consumer products for renewal potential and repaired 57 items to grade A standard, ready for sale.

Repaired items sold in the Netherlands

To mark Earth Month in April, the repaired clothes were sold as part of an exclusive range available at the Batavia Stad fashion outlet in the Netherlands. The brand developed dedicated marketing materials, with in-store signage and bespoke wooden hangtags that can be reused in the future to minimise waste.

Responsible sourcing and packaging

Karl Lagerfeld says it already has a number of initiatives in place to reduce its environmental impact, from responsible raw material sourcing to recyclable and recycled packaging.

The ESG & Finance Compliance Analyst role supports the collection, validation and analysis of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data, the preparation of ESG and sustainability reports in line with relevant frameworks such as GRI and CSRD, and compliance with packaging regulations including PPWR.
