Cut plastic in wrappers

In 2024, Snackbrands says it removed 7% of the plastic from its Nice and Natural wrappers. It says this equals about 5,000 kilograms less plastic each year. This is a packaging change meant to reduce waste and lower the amount of plastic used in its products.

Joined packaging covenant

Snackbrands says it is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant, a shared industry agreement focused on reducing the environmental impact of packaging. It also says it supports the National Plastics Recycling Scheme, which works on kerbside collection trials for soft plastics in Australia. These steps point to packaging and recycling work rather than a finished solution.

Invested in local manufacturing

The company says it invested in a new manufacturing site at Orchard Hills in Australia. It says the site uses more efficient equipment and helps reduce waste while supporting higher environmental standards. The move also supports local manufacturing, which can shorten some supply chains and make operations easier to manage.

Set emissions reduction targets

Snackbrands says it has signed up to the Science Based Targets initiative, or SBTi, which helps companies set climate targets based on the Paris Agreement. It says it plans to cut operational emissions by 50% and supply chain emissions by 30% from 2021 to 2032. Operational emissions are the emissions from its own sites, while supply chain emissions come from suppliers and other outside activities.

Designed snacks for recycling

Snackbrands says it is reducing unnecessary packaging, increasing recycled material use, and designing its snacks with recycling in mind. It also says it is working to reduce plastic use while keeping food safe and hygienic. This shows a focus on packaging design and waste reduction across its snack range.
