Jonathan Aston Sustainability Actions

Launched Racing. Green.

In April 2022 we announced our ambitious sustainability strategy, Racing. Green., which outlines our vision to becoming a world-leading sustainable ultra-luxury automotive business. The strategy represents an integrated approach focused on three key pillars: ‘Tackling climate change’, ‘Creating a better environment’, and ‘Investing in people’.

Calculated emissions data

Aston Group has calculated our scope 1 and 2 and is preparing the Aston Group carbon footprint for publication. We have identified our prime sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and are working on ideas and solutions. Aston Group has also initiated the process of understanding and calculating our Scope 3 emissions.

Installed solar PV and EVs

There are 26 solar panels at the head office that supply the generated electricity to our offices. In 2024, the Solar PVs generated a total of 16,343.28kWh over 100% increase from 2023. The business has transitioned seven electric vehicles and three EV chargers, which has helped to significantly reduce vehicle emissions in the fleet compared to the previous diesel vehicles.

Reduced waste to landfill

Operational waste is a huge contributor to environmental impact in workplaces across the country. Aston Group works with Sortea services to collect, segregate, and responsibly recycle/incinerate our project site waste, preventing it from reaching landfills. This approach has allowed the business to successfully divert approximately 669.5 tonnes of waste from ending up in landfills.

Supported campus biodiversity

The Aston campus is home to a diverse range of fruit and native trees, including apple, pear, plum, walnut, sweet chestnut, and gingko. Selected areas near Car Parks 5 and 7 and around the Students’ Union have been purposefully left to grow wild, creating vital habitats for pollinators, caterpillars, and other wildlife. The University’s gardening and grounds team actively enhances these areas through wildlife-friendly planting and the installation of bird boxes, bat boxes, and insect and bug hotels.
