Isa Boulder Sustainability Actions

Small in-house production

Each piece of swimwear is cut and sewn by our small in-house team, allowing us to stay closely connected to every step of the process. Working this way keeps us accountable—not only to the quality of what we make, but to the people who make it and the hands it passes through.

Slow production approach

Our approach is intentionally slow. We take time with our designs, our materials, and our production, choosing thoughtfulness over speed. By keeping our process close, we’re able to make considered decisions, reduce unnecessary waste, and create pieces that are meant to be worn, lived in, and cared for—not replaced.

Local craftsmanship in Bali

Having started out as a swimwear brand in 2019, Bali-based womenswear brand Isa Boulder is the creative brainchild of Central Saint Martins graduate Cecilia Basari and long-term pattern maker Yuli Suri. Combining contemporary aesthetics with local craftsmanship, their handmade pieces lead sustainable fashion into a new sensual direction.

Works with local manufacturers

With sustainability being an important value of the brand, Basari and Suri work closely with local manufacturers and create handmade pieces that celebrate ethical craftsmanship and the love for long-lasting designs.

Keeps production local

Upon founding ISA BOULDER, Yuli and Lia agreed to keep the label based entirely in their native Bali. By keeping the brand local, the pair are able to oversee in-house manufacturing (keeping it as sustainable as possible by reappropriating uncut fabrics and offering made-to-order pieces) and take part in the studio’s day-to-day.
