Human.Kind Sustainability Actions

B Corp certification achieved

Human.Kind says it is a Certified B Corporation, which means it has passed an outside assessment of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The studio says this certification legally commits it to care for people and the planet. It also says it has been measuring its social and environmental impact since 2022. The brand presents this as part of how it runs the business, not as a separate campaign.

Waste and recycling controls

The studio says its team and community sort waste, compostables, and recyclables as they go. It also says it audits site waste every month to find ways to improve. Human.Kind reports very low landfill waste at its studios and says it aims for zero landfill waste. It also says it uses minimal retail items, prefers plastic-free products and packaging, and works with suppliers to reduce plastic in transit packaging.

Banking and divestment action

In 2020, Human.Kind says it moved its business banking to Bank Australia, a customer-owned bank that is also a certified B Corp. It also says it offered an extra 1% superannuation contribution for staff and contractors who moved their retirement savings to an ethical provider. In 2021, it says a community action on divestment led to nearly 100 actions and an estimated $3 million moved away from fossil fuel-supporting banks and super funds.

Bike and transport support

Human.Kind says it had extra bike racks installed at its Adelaide site to make cycling easier for students. It also says both studios were chosen because they are well served by public transport and bike paths. The brand says it wants to reduce emissions linked to staff and community travel, which are called Scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions from things like commuting).

Water-saving fixtures added

The studio says it has fitted flow-rate limiters to all showers and taps. These devices reduce how much water comes out each time. Members are also asked to keep showers short so less water and heating energy are used. Human.Kind says it does not yet have a full way to measure water use across its shared buildings.

Community grants and scholarships

Human.Kind says it runs an Impact Fund, a separate not-for-profit foundation, and a monthly Ripple Grant program for local grassroots projects. It also says it offers First Nations Scholarships that provide one fully funded place for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person in each registered training course. The brand also says it supports subsidised memberships, fair living wages, landcare work, and free educational events.
