Houston & Hawkes became the UK’s first contract caterer to become a certified B Corp. With a score of 110.6, it said it committed to using business as a force for good to benefit all people, communities, and the planet through a continuous improvement process.

Appointed Head of ESG and Safety

Houston & Hawkes appointed James Carr as Head of ESG and Safety to strengthen sustainability and safety leadership. He will oversee efforts to continue setting the benchmark for safety across the industry and spearhead sustainability initiatives.

Reduced food waste

As part of Food Waste Action Week, Houston & Hawkes ran zero-waste specials, live chef demonstrations to maximise ingredient use and reduce waste in kitchens, and food donations so surplus food supports local charities and community initiatives instead of going to waste.

Highlighted sourcing and recycling

The company said key initiatives included the rollout of its Carbon Food Ladder, simplified recycling guidance across sites, chef-led waste reduction activity, and a sourcing approach where more than 85% of produce is sourced from suppliers within 50 miles of London.
