Discussed sustainable growth priorities

In the conversation, I discussed why sustainable growth — not short-term gimmicks — should be the priority, and outlined a few key steps to help drive long-term competitiveness: Policy certainty – scale-ups need consistent rules to plan and invest with confidence. Smart tax reforms – cutting employer NI on new hires and reducing friction on share trades could unlock jobs, liquidity, and capital. Innovation beyond AI – the UK’s world-class talent and universities can compete globally across multiple sectors.

Referenced climate change and growth

We also recognize we can’t do this work in today’s global economy without addressing and responding to climate change, which is inextricable from sustainable economic growth. We connect and convene regional leaders to support them in building stronger and more resilient economies across all of California. And we catalyze state and federal action in service of climate-smart, regions-up economic growth.

Supported community benefits work

Our new partnership on community benefits with the Possibility Lab at UC Berkeley was announced; this project will jointly develop online resources and toolkits to support communities and developers.
