Green Glass Sustainability Actions

Glass recycling and circularity

Glass is one of the most recyclable materials on the planet—and it can be recycled endlessly without losing quality. From improving energy efficiency in buildings to supporting circular manufacturing, the glass and glazing industry continues to be a key part of the sustainability solution. The National Glass Association’s World Glass Map highlights glass recycling efforts around the globe and reinforces the importance of keeping this valuable material in use.

Reload project in Brussels

Through the Reload project, AGC Glass Europe, together with partners Louis De Waele, Pierret sa and Shipit Multimodal Logistics, demonstrates that flat glass recycling and reuse on construction sites is not only possible — but essential for the future of the sector. By improving collection, sorting and recycling streams, these partners are helping turn construction waste into valuable resources again.

Electrifying furnaces

To reduce its carbon footprint, AGC Glass Europe is focusing on its two main emission sources: the energy needed for melting in furnaces and the decarbonisation of raw materials. On the first, it is working on the progressive electrification of furnaces to reduce its need for natural gas.

Increasing recycled content

To reduce its carbon footprint, AGC Glass Europe is focusing on its two main emission sources. On the second, it is increasing its rate of recycled materials. The company says that flat glass can be separated, broken and sent into sorting streams to recover glass and aluminium.
