dk active Sustainability Actions

In-house production model

dk active does every operation stage in-house. The brand manages its product concept, design, development, and distribution in-house, allowing it to have greater control over the sustainability of its products at every stage.

Uses recycled materials

It uses a medium proportion of lower-impact materials including recycled materials. On its fabrics page, Core Comfort is described as crafted from 77% recycled fibres, including Repreve® yarn made from post-consumer plastic bottles, and Activate is made using 77% recycled materials, including plastic water bottles.

Uses organic cotton

Its Organic Cotton Fleece is made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton. The fabric page says it is breathable, biodegradable and free from harmful chemicals.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

Our fabrics carry the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, meaning they’re free from harmful or toxic chemicals.

Compostable packaging

Our custom compostable mailers, sticky tape, and shipping labels make home composting easy for our customers while minimizing landfill and post-consumer waste. In addition to being recyclable, our garment swing tags are attached with reusable safety pins.

Fabric offcuts recycled

Fabric offcuts are donated to organisations and charities that recycle them and given to staff who’d like to take the garments home. The founder also said all offcuts are sent to Textile Recyclers Australia, where they are broken down and woven into new yarn to be repurposed into new fabrics and textiles.

Solar power and sea freight

dk active says it powers its HQ on solar power and favours fabric mills that use solar power. It also uses sea freights for international shipping to reduce carbon emission and provides carbon-neutral shipping.
