Discussed ESG and DEI in 2024

Both ESG & DEI have become hot button terms in recent years. This article discusses what each of these terms mean, their connection and some recent trends to note. For most corporations, ESG has become a central focus under Sustainability reporting. DEI stands for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) – at an organizational level means supporting different groups or individuals, irrespective of their races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations.

Reviewed ESG and DEI goals

As we begin planning projects for 2024 with the spirit of making a positive difference to our surroundings and employees, here are some points to consider: Revisit your organization’s goals and outcomes for ESG and DEI initiatives. What are the gaps in current programs? Is it time to identify those and re-strategize? Are we too focused on reporting only? Then it’s probably time to refocus your initiatives and programs based on your: Industry sector and Employee needs and feedback.

Promoted Total Worker Health

Implementing Total Worker Health (TWH) isn't just about being a "nice" employer—it’s a strategic shift from merely preventing injury to actively fostering well-being. Developed by NIOSH, TWH recognizes that work is a social determinant of health; what happens at the workplace (or the job site) impacts stakeholder health and well-being, which in turn impacts the well-being of the organization.

Highlighted psychological health

This is why regulators like Safe Work Australia are placing increasing focus on psychological health as part of workplace safety obligations. Mental health is no longer a “nice to have” conversation. It is a core safety issue. What leading businesses are doing differently includes training leaders to recognise early signs of stress, fatigue, and burnout; creating environments where workers feel safe to speak up; managing workloads and shift demands more effectively; and proactively identifying psychosocial risks.

Supported workplace wellness

Drive Your Safety and Wellness Program To Create a Thriving Workforce. Integrating Safety, Health, and Well-Being for “A Safe and Sound” Workplace. The core elements move beyond checklists to create a safe and well work environment. It is the process we follow even when a company rep states they don't have the time or resources to implement the elements.
