De Bonne Facture Sustainability Actions

B Corp certified

De Bonne Facture becomes the 10th B Corp® certified apparel company in France. De Bonne Facture is now B Corp® certified. The B Corp® Label is an international CSR certification that is highly demanding and attests to a company's sustainable commitment to social and environmental issues.

Traceability on garments

Our commitment to traceability in our supply chain translates by information requests as systematically as possible towards our fabric suppliers. We gather the most information we can to develop an enhanced traceability of our raw materials. Some certifications we work with, like the GOTS standard, ensure a good traceability of transformation processes, both on environmental and social issues.

Natural and recycled fabrics

We work with a selection of natural fabrics, mainly cotton, linen and wool for main fabrics, and horn, corozo and mother-of-pearl for accessories. We are constantly looking for alternatives to viscose for our linings, that we use as little as possible, preferring pure cotton pattern maker canvas. Provided the quality is equivalent to a new fabric, we work with natural recycled fabrics.

Limits dye impact

We limit the environmental impact of dyes by working with natural dyes or undyed material on limited editions. We use organic cotton as often as possible, preferably GOTS-certified. We favour mulesing-free wools, particularly for merino wool.

Care, repair and recycle

The way a garment is cleaned and maintained has a measurable impact on its lifespan and ecological footprint. We encourage our customers to wash their clothes only if necessary, favouring washing at the lowest temperature possible according to the care instructions, and for dry cleaning, to go to ecological dry cleaners if they can. We encourage our customers to repair and mend their garments. We also advise our customers to recycle their clothes or give them to associations.

Preserves atelier know-how

Attention to production is at the core of our philosophy. The choice of our ateliers for their manufacturing specialties in industrial areas with proven culture of craftsmanship preserves know-how on territories that are strained by outsourcing. On every piece, the name, locality and history of the atelier that made it is mentioned on a hangtag.

Community investment launched

After 10 years, we have decided to open our shares to our community. De Bonne Facture is starting a community investment program, via the sustainable investment platform Lita. We are choosing to open our capital to our community of friends, customers and partners because we want to build our business with the people who care about what we do and support the positive, sustainable business model we have been building all those years.
