Generated Indigenous employment

The company said it was a hub of Indigenous employment, with 81 percent of staff members being mob. It also said that in the six months between July and December 2021 it generated almost 8,000 hours of employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including 4,992.42 hours for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth aged 15-24.

Clothing The Gaps was certified as a B Corporation in March 2022. The company said its commitment to ethical, sustainable and regenerative business practices had been measured across workers, governance, customers, environment and community.

Freed the Flag campaign

The company said its "Free The Flag" tee and campaign resulted in a senate inquiry into the Aboriginal Flag copyright issue and, on 25 January 2022, the Government announced that the flag was freed and available for public use after its designer agreed to transfer copyright to the Commonwealth.
