Supports artisan families

Your purchase makes a difference for more than 900 artisan families in Yucatán. More than 900 Mayan women are part of the CIELO family. From their homes, they weave with love and receive fair payment for their art. Each hammock comes with the name of the weaver who created it, carrying her story and heart in every thread.

Eliminated middlemen

In 2016, we decided to change this model forever: we opened our own facilities in Teabo, Yucatán, where artisans could deliver their hammocks directly. We eliminated middlemen, ensured fair and immediate payment, and built direct relationships that allow us to understand their needs and provide continuous training.

Became a B Corp

Cielo Hammocks is the only hammock company in Mexico certified as a B Corp (Sistema B) and the 8th Mexican company certified under this program. We have also been awarded “Best for the World in 2015, 2016 & 2017 for our work in the Community.

Joined Fair Trade Federation

Cielo Hammocks is a member of the Fair Trade Federation. The company went through a rigorous process of selection and accreditation to become a member of Fair Trade. We see our hammocks as an instrument of change in the communities we serve, where we strive to empower indigenous Mayan women.

Promotes environmental care

Cielo Hammocks, always committed to sustainable development, is responsible for not compromising or endangering the environment, promoting this ideology to all members of the organization, always seeking the use of resources that do not harm or destroy the ecosystem, to save energy and recycling office and packaging materials.

Created the CIELO Foundation

In 2012, my sister and co-founder Josefina created the CIELO Foundation, thanks to which we have provided scholarships to 26 women who are now nurses, teachers, and lawyers.

Promoted Yucatecan Hammock origin

Since 2022, we have promoted the Denomination of Origin of the Yucatecan Hammock, with the goal of protecting and adding value to this artisanal tradition.
