Carter & Benson S.r.l. Sustainability Actions

Became a Benefit Corporation

In 2021, Carter & Benson became a Benefit Company and changed the articles of association, adding the statement Benefit Corporation to its business purpose. The company says this was the natural consequence of a path started years ago and reflects a business model oriented to the common good, with a social and environmental dimension included in the business process.

B Corp Certified in 2023

Since June 2023, Carter & Benson has been BCorp Certified. The company links this to its sustainability and corporate social responsibility approach.

Introduced the short week

In January 2020 the short-week project started with a reduction of 4 working hours a week at the same salary; the working hours became 8 in January 2021. Today the company works 32 hours a week. The choice of the short week, together with smart working, is described as a way to reduce stress, encourage responsibility, sharing and autonomy, and improve psycho-physical health, happiness and motivation.

Supports employee wellbeing

Carter & Benson says that, because sport and a healthy life are necessary for individual wellbeing, employees can benefit from two hours’ paid leave a week to practice sport. The offices also provide healthy and natural drinks and food for free at any moment of the day.

Reduced office environmental impact

The company says its offices have been whitewashed with a special paint that changes walls into a completely natural air purifier, able to purify the air by 88,8% and eliminate 99,9% of bacteria and virus. It also uses a system that absorbs humidity from the air and turns it into drinking water, which it says contributes to the reduction of transport impact and drinkable water consumption and drastically decreases the use of plastic.
