It also states that it aims to improve fair compensation, supplier standards, and representation across its workforce and athlete community.

Burton Sustainability Actions

Climate action goals

We are committed to building a healthy planet where all people can thrive. To get there, we’re reducing our emissions in line with a science-based target and advocating for system-level change. Reduce: Limit our carbon footprint and promote renewable energy generation through improvements to operations and changes to product design and manufacturing. Advocate: Work with partners and like-minded brands to advocate for climate-positive policy that catalyzes system-level change.

Preferred materials

The materials we use are a significant driver of our impact on the planet. It's up to us to choose materials that reduce waste, limit water consumption, and use safer chemistry during production. We're using preferred materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester, and bluesign® approved materials to reduce resource consumption and carbon emissions.

Product circularity

We’re focusing on circular systems to reduce our resource consumption, keep our products in use for as long as possible, and limit waste. To keep our carbon footprint small and limit waste, we're embracing circular principles that reduce resource consumption and extend product lifecycles. It's our mission to keep our products in the mountains and out of landfills. The most sustainable products are the ones that last, and we back all of our softgoods with a LIFETIME WARRANTY.

Justice, equity and inclusion

Burton is committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion for the long-term health of our company, sport, and community. We believe in fair wages, increasing the diversity of our workforce and athletes, and creating a culture of inclusion where everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.

Fair labor and sourcing

A big part of riding together is making sure that we take care of our people and communities - that means compensation for our employees, contractors, and factory workers should be equitable and livable. By 2025, we’ll ensure that our major suppliers reach, at minimum, internationally recognized living wage benchmarks. We'll continue to uphold our Responsible Sourcing principles and work with our suppliers to make improvements through our social audit program accredited by the Fair Labor Association.
