Boma New Zealand Sustainability Actions

Certified B Corporation

Boma is a Certified B Corporation®. This means we meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Education and access

We provide quality education across all of our programmes and events, and lead by example by modeling the behaviour we want to see in the world. We also live and breathe this commitment in how we deliver our programmes, offering scholarship placements on our open enrolment programmes and accessible pricing for young people, non-profits and startups.

Decent work and culture

Boma aims to be an awesome place to work, and we invest heavily in growing a culture we’re proud of. Beyond ensuring all salaries are benchmarked against industry standards and above living wage, we champion an organisational culture of health and learning. This includes clearly defining and embedding aspirations for team culture, inviting individual hauora (wellbeing) time each week, providing multifaceted professional development opportunities, and an ongoing commitment to DEI and cultural competency.

Waste and event practices

We work with our venues to divert waste from landfill, source fresh local food, and serve on crockery and glassware. Our 2021 and 2022 E Tipu Boma Agri Summits were certified Ekos Zero Carbon events.

Carbon monitoring

In 2023, we made the decision to monitor our carbon impact at an organisational level using Impact Aware from CarbonTrail, which measures our carbon emissions on an ongoing basis to help make sustainability a part of our everyday business operations.
