Black Isle Brewing Co Ltd Sustainability Actions

Planted trees and habitats

This ethos has seen us prioritise biodiversity on our organic brewery farm, where we have planted thousands of native trees, created wetland habitats and shunned pesticides and herbicides in favour of insects, wildflowers and weeds.

Earned B Corp certification

Earning our B Corp certification in March 2023 was an important milestone on our sustainability journey. B Corp certification is awarded to companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Grew produce on the farm

In our market garden, we grow organic, biodynamic fruit and vegetables to supply our craft beer and pizza bars. Adjacent to the brewery is our vibrant five-acre SOPA-accredited market garden, where we grow organic vegetables, fruits and herbs using regenerative methods.

Ran community visits

Regular school visits, volunteer days and courses allow us to share the importance of time spent in nature and a sustainable "soil-to-plate" approach to food security.

Offset carbon emissions

Following the completion of our first carbon footprint assessment, we have offset our current CO2 output by working with Climate Partner to support protection of the Amazon rainforest in Pará, Brazil, as well as the development of wind energy in Salodi, India.
