Berkshire Cider Project Sustainability Actions

Certified B Corp in 2023

In 2023, we became a certified B-Corp, joining other companies that balance profit and purpose. The B-Corp certification process looks across several categories– including environment, employees, governance, community and customers –to evaluate how a company seeks a positive impact through its business model.

Locally sourced within 100 miles

100% locally sourced within 100 miles. We primarily source fresh-pressed juice from more than 8 local orchards, supplemented by our experiments with wild foraged and site-specific apples. Local Orchards (within 100 miles) – Supports our local economy and food system.

Reduced carbon footprint

Since 2021, we have reduced our absolute carbon footprint by 4%. We measure our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and have estimated our Scope 3 emissions to get a better sense for our overall impact. We also track carbon intensity, and carbon use per gallon is down 5% and our carbon per dollar earned is down 16%.

Donated revenue to nonprofits

Each year, we donate at least 2% of our revenue to non-profit organizations. Through our employee giving program, we invite our employees to help direct a portion of our giving to organizations that are close to their hearts.

Supported Berkshire Food Project

Since 2021, we have donated a total of $4,700 to the Berkshire Food Project, including 20¢ for every pound of apples donated to our Community cider project.
