Uses recycled materials

Bellroy says it uses fabrics made from recycled bottles, fishing nets, and industrial waste to help reduce waste already in the system. Sources leather responsibly

Bellroy says 100% of the leather it uses comes from Leather Working Group gold-rated tanneries. Leather Working Group is a group that checks how tanneries manage environmental impacts such as water use and pollution. Bellroy also says it worked on animal welfare and traceability in leather, including chairing the Leather Working Group’s animal welfare subcommittee from 2016 until March 2023.

Uses approved textile standards

Bellroy says it uses Bluesign or Oeko-Tex Standard 100 approved materials where they make sense, and says this covered 100% of its primary and secondary textiles as of 2025. Bluesign is a system that looks at safer chemical use and lower environmental impact in textile production. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 checks that textiles have been tested for harmful substances.

Works on product durability

Bellroy says its main goal is to limit consumption and reduce the amount of stuff that ends up in landfill. It describes its products as hard-wearing and says its designs are made to stay in use for years. Bellroy says it has donated significant funds to Farm Forward, a group that works on more compassionate farming practices for farmed animals. It also says it invested in leather alternatives and was the first brand to commercially release MIRUM and INNOVERA, two leather-like materials made to reduce dependence on livestock. This shows a move toward lower-animal-impact materials.
