Aurum Jewels Sustainability Actions

Uses recycled precious metals

Aurum says it has used only recycled and re-refined precious metals for more than 20 years. It also says its jewellery is made in Iceland. Recycled precious metals are metals recovered from old products and reused instead of being newly mined. That can reduce the need for fresh mining, which often has a bigger environmental impact.

Uses lab-grown diamonds

Aurum says it sources lab-grown diamonds from suppliers that are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), a trade group that sets standards for responsible business in the jewellery supply chain. Lab-grown diamonds are made in a lab rather than mined from the ground. The brand presents this as part of its effort to keep sourcing more ethical and environmentally responsible.

Makes packaging from mulberry paper

Aurum says its gift boxes use mulberry paper, also called Saa paper, made from the bark and leaves of the mulberry tree. The brand says the process is non-destructive because the trees are not cut down. It presents this as a lower-impact packaging choice compared with more resource-heavy materials.

Produces in renewable-energy Iceland

Aurum says all of its production takes place in Iceland, where it states that 100 percent of energy comes from renewable sources, mainly hydropower and geothermal power. Renewable energy comes from sources that naturally refill, unlike coal or oil. This can lower the climate impact of making jewellery.

Supports charity collections

Aurum has created several jewellery collections linked to fundraising. It says profits from some pieces support charities such as Göngum saman, the Forget-Me-Not support fund, the Icelandic Cancer Society, and Neistinn. These collaborations tie product sales to donations for health and community causes.

Engages on ESG in finance

Aurum Fund Management says it engages with the managers it invests with on environmental, social, and governance issues, often shortened to ESG. ESG means how a business handles climate, people, and management risks. It also says it is a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment and supports climate disclosure work through the TCFD, the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.
