Published local value data

Since 2020, ASI Reisen has been publishing data on local value creation through “ASI Original trips”, as well as the CO2 emissions associated with the trips. The ASI local value creation index includes a listing of the percentage of the trip price that goes to local partners, fixed margin, taxes, international services, and operational costs.

Measured local impact

ASI Reisen quantifies local value added and uses a cost-breakdown approach to understand how money invested in local organisations stays within the economy and adds value to local communities. The company says measuring impact is an ongoing process of tracking, measuring, monitoring and evaluating data.

Worked with local partners

ASI Reisen prioritises small, family-owned companies who are local experts, and actively engages with them in regular dialogue, discussing key sustainability-related issues. All partners sign ASI Reisen’s supplier code of conduct, which is used to communicate and ensure alignment with ethical business commitments and social and environmental sustainability standards.

Removed uncertified operators

Since the beginning of November, ASI Reisen removed 49 partner operators, around 450 trips, from its platform because they did not meet recognised sustainability certification standards. The company said it now exclusively offers trips from tour operators who hold recognised sustainability certifications.

Re-certified as B Corp

ASI Reisen was successfully re-certified as a BCorp.

Shifted climate investments

After years of calculating, transparently disclosing and offsetting the emissions of its ASI Original trips, including flights, ASI Reisen said it is realigning its climate strategy. Instead of investing in traditional compensation projects, it is investing in climate technology through the GET Fund, a European cleantech venture capital fund that supports start-ups developing scalable technologies for decarbonisation.
