Anglia Print Sustainability Actions

Environmental policy and verification

Our environmental policy outlines our public commitment to protecting the environment and continual improvement. There is a lot of Greenwash around environmental (and ethical) issues and we set ourselves apart in our approach: we are honest and transparent and everything we do and say is externally and independently verified. Anglia Print is one of a very small number of printing companies with a transparent Ethical Business Policy.

Annual emissions reporting

Anglia Print has for many years established its annual emissions and since 2015 publicly reported, after external verification, the data via our Eco-Management & Audit Scheme registration. We have in place a robust framework to measure, monitor and reduce our emissions.

Renewable electricity and heating

Our electricity is purchased from Ecotricity, on 100% from renewable resources tariff. Electricity is used for lighting and powering equipment. Low energy lighting is in place and our heating system recycles generated heat. No gas or heating oil is used in our factory.

Solar panels installed

Since May 2022 we have been running on our new Solax Solar System. This is a 46 x 400w PV panel array giving us 18.4KWh of possible energy production which is enough to run Anglia Print and charge our batteries to 17.4KWh to keep office equipment (Phones, Servers) running through the night.

Carbon Charter Gold status

Anglia Print maintains Gold status for the Suffolk Carbon Charter. The Suffolk Carbon Charter evaluates actions taken and grades a company accordingly Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Vegetable oil-based inks

The company converted all its presses to vegetable oil-based inks back in 2004 and in the same year switched to a non-toxic font solution as well as sourcing biodegradable blanket wash.

Zero waste to landfill

The next year, Anglia Print moved into a new building which was super insulated at the building stage as well as having water-saving devices fitted to all toilets and taps. 2005 also saw the company start its zero waste to landfill policy which it has continued to achieve ever since.

CD recycling scheme

In 2006, the company started a CD recycling scheme in the form of a free collection service within a 20-mile radius of its factory. This meant that all parts of the CD and case were separated and stored until enough volume was produced for recycling.

Low energy equipment and lighting

In 2015, the company installed low energy computers and servers. In 2017, the company changed all its plastic packaging tape to printed paper tape as well as had low energy lighting fitted.
